Concrete

Concrete is a term use to indicate the paste prepared by the addition of water in specified proportion in mixture of binding material, fine aggregate, course aggregate and admixture if required.

Binding material used to prepare concrete are cement/lime/gypsum. Fine aggregate may be sand/surkhi/cinder and coarse aggregate are Gravel/Brick/Ballast/Stone ballast.

Note : 1 m3 of wet concrete is 1.53 m3 of dry concrete.

For instance, if the mixture of binding material + fine aggregate +coarse aggregate + Water (i.e. 1.5 m3 ) is consider as 1 m3 of concrete.

Let be clear that with Problem.

Q. Compute the number of cement bags volume of fine aggregate and coarse aggregate for 2.5 m3 of concrete having design mix of 1:3:8(by volume).

Q. Compute the volume of water required to be mix in 1.2 m3 of concrete of proportion 1:2:4 with water cement ratio (W/C)=0.48. Assume density of concrete 2450 kg/ m3 .
